Bayanihan GNU/Linux

 

Created by the Advanced Science and Technology Institute at the DOST. It's a working operating system that is Internet-ready and packed with an office suite, multimedia and graphics programs, and anti-virus software.

Karapatan

 

Locally-designed software made to help human rights organizations keep track of violations, not just here in the RP, but also around the world. Developer Rick Bahague said that Karapatan was "designed to be generic enough [for] other human rights organizations [to adopt] even if they are not located in the Philippines."

DSWD 

The Department of Social Welfare and Development has migrated to open-source. To save money on software and spend more on training people, the DSWD decided to start using the PCLinuxOS operating system on its computers. The freedom of FOSS is an advantage for them, especially in their efforts to bring computer technology to the common tao.

Edubuntu for public schools 

320 public schools are going to receive upgrades this year from the government Commission on Information and Communications Technology. They'll be getting computers pre-loaded with Edubuntu, a FOSS operating system designed specially for schools.
