         ASTRONOMY PICTURE OF THE DAY

                       EXPLORE THE NIGHT SKY

This is a map of the night sky overhead at the school. Remember: streets (like 152nd) run North and South. Avenues (like 24th) run west and east. West is Cresecent Beach. East is Langley. South is Semiahmoo Bay and the pier. North is the Guildford, and the ski hills at of the North Shore mountains.

Can you pick out some constellations visible even if there's light pollution from the city?

YOUR BIRTHDAY STAR

This link will show you a star that is as far away from our planet in  light years as you are in days from the moment of your birth. Light travels at 300,000 km/sec. As you  get older, the light from more and more distant stars will have time to reach earth.  As a result, your birthday star will change as you get older.
