Other books by Rob Rains include autobiographies (co-written) with Jack Buck, Ozzie Smith, Red Schoendienst, Jim Hanifan, Dave Phillips and others as well as biographies about Tony La Russa and Mark McGwire. He often contributes to Major League Baseball World Series programs, St. Louis Sports Magazine and other magazines as well as being a regular on Jamie Allman's radio show on 97.1 in St. Louis (Mondays in the 8 a.m. hour); and Ned Reynolds and Scott Puryear's show on Jock 97 in Springfield, MO. Rains is a member of Baseball Writers of America (BBWAA) and is a voting member for the Baseball Hall of Fame and has served as Official Scorer for major league baseball for several play-off games as well as Cardinals games. In 2010 her book The Making Of A Masterpiec, The True Story Of Margaret Mitchell's Classic Novel, Gone With The Wind won First Place in the Missouri Professional Communicators (MPC) contest for Best Book and she went on to receive Third Place in the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW). Also in 2010 she premiered her documentary, The Making Of A Masterpiece, A Documentary which aired on HEC-TV and produced a three day event in St. Louis called "Gateway To The Wind" which was a conference that brought in speakers, experts and others with connections to Gone With The Wind. Along with her son, B.J. Rains she won a Telly Award for "Hope For The 'C' Word" a video to help newly diagnosed pediatric cancer patients and their families. Sally Rains got her start as a sports reporter at KMOX/CBS Radio in St. Louis where she worked as a writer for Bob Costas. Sally attended the University of Missouri- Columbia eventually transferring to Webster University where she got her degree in Media/ Journalism. She has served on several national committees including the Missouri Society in Washington, D.C. where she headed up the state of Missouri's involvement in the National Cherry Blossom Festival and put on a a reception in the US Capitol with two congressmen in attendance.
