Attingham Park - Book Fair

Twas the very beginning of May and a decade after the bugless start of a new millennium when hoards of Shropshire writers camped out at Attingham Park to try and sell their hard crafted wares. This is planned to be an annual event so any ideas you may have about how this event can

be enhanced will be gladly considered.

Boom Boom Baby!
The Wrekin Writers have been pounding the beat. The March meeting was not the place to be if you were suffering from a hangover as twenty odd drummers re-created the sounds of Africa. Anyone working at the Wrekin Housing Trust that Saturday must have felt like a primate extra on the set of a Tarzan film. Below are a few of the snap-shots taken that day. My thanks to the photographers for their great pictures and especially for not putting my ugly mug in the frame...

Wrekin Writers has been in existence for many years now.  Throughout that time, it has grown and flourished to produce a group of talented writers (well we think so anyway!) In its early years the group was fortunate enough to have as its President, a local Shropshire writer, by the name of Edith Pargeter, otherwise known as Ellis Peters, author of the Brother Cadfael books. We do have in our midst, winners of national Short Story Competitions, poetry competitions, and writers whose work has appeared in national magazines and newspapers.  There are also authors of local history books and poetry collections.  There are members whose books have appeared on the UK bestseller lists and in several foreign editions, as well as those who have yet to discover the joy of publication.  More importantly, we also have members who enjoy writing purely for the pleasure it gives them.
