Version 0.19

posted Apr 5, 2010 6:15 AM by Diwa Fernandez

Ah, back from a long weekend of vacation.

Anyway, I don't know if this is as exciting for you as it is for me but I took the time to do some changes for the WOWRSC. I'm glad to receive some thoughts about this application by my friends and I do hope you guys would to. I'd love to get feed backs to better this application.

New Changes:
  • Changed the color of the list and made it more user friendly with the use of:
    • Realm Status indicator icons
  • Progress bar to know that you're actually getting the RSS feed of WoW Realm Status.

My next to do list:
  • Create a search option.
  • Set the timer check (**)
** I have thoughts on setting the timer freely by the user. I have to limit the refresh rate of the application. The reason why I want to limit it because the internet connection. Depending on the user's connection there is a possibility that while the application is downloading the RSS feed and the interval you set ends before it downloads completely making it reload the command of getting the RSS again.

I don't know if I am being clear on this. But if I get more requests on adding this then I will.

I updated the application fixing the following updates(s):
  • Removed the force update and permanently set the timer to refresh every one minute.

Version 0.16

Reverting back to square one. I updated the application fixing the following updates(s):
  • Realm Lists Duplicating every refresh
  • Auto refresh interval increased to 25 seconds.
  • Clears the interval when getting new list of realm status
  • A small animation on start up.
New Feature: checks for new version of WOWRSC.
With this new feature added. It only shows a button where you'll be able to download the new version automatically. I still have not learned how to set up the automatic update where you don't have to save the file in your computer. Rest assured that this will be solved within the near future.

Bugs

I found a bug! Darn critters. To those who already downloaded and installed this application, my deepest apology.
It's only now that I noticed that every time the application refreshed it doesn't really refresh but adds it into the list component. Thus, creating duplicate and long list in the application.

I will fix this once I get home.

Again, my sincerest apology.

TODO List

  • Icon indicator on server lists of their status

Any wish list?

My first application, woot!

Ok, just a background for you guys. I am a simple web designer that just loves to try out different things; and this is one of them. When boredom creeps in... I become creative (well, most of the time they are non-productive) but never-the-less, I've done something that I would like to share.
I started this WOWRSC a few hours ago.

For those who installed WOWRSC, I'd like to say thank you!

Since this is just first version, expect to check out this site for new updates. I still haven't figured out how to do an automatic update yet but that is the first priority on my todo list.

  • The application is very simple, it doesn't look up any files in your computer and it only connects to the World of Warcraft Realm Status RSS feed.
  • There's a minimize and a close button.
  • A force refresh on the top left of the application but this application already refreshes every 10 seconds (you don't have to worry ob the force refresh).
TODO List:
  • Automatic Update on the application
  • Have a EU server status.
What else? If you have any ideas and such, please tell me.
