 STAY & FOOD EXPENSES

Shimla, being one of the most popular tourist destination of India, is an expensive city. The lowest cost of staying in a Hotel or Guest House costs not less than US $ 5 or IN Rs. 200 per day (exclusive of taxes and food expenses). This amount makes upto a minimum of US $ 150 or IN Rs. 6000 for a month-long stay and not suitable for volunteers who spend a good amount of money on their volunteering related expenses.

Keeping this in view and making the volunteering more "pocket-friendly" for our volunteers, PARIWARTAN bears the responsibility of arranging the budget stay and food for the overseas volunteers and the volunteers not residing in Shimla. However, all the boarding & lodging expenses are paid by the volunteers themselves. The stay & food details are as under-

  • The MONTHLY ROOM RENT of a "Budget Stay" in Shimla costs in the range of US $ 50-70 or IN Rs. 2000-3000 per month while the cost of a week-long stay ranges between US $ 20-30 or IN Rs. 1000-1300 per week.
  • In light of the fact that most of our project sites are located in rural areas, the stay at project sites (outside Shimla) costs relatively lesser as compared to staying in Shimla town.
  • The FOOD EXPENSE in Shimla (including a good hygienic Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner) ranges around US $ 3-5 or IN Rs. 130-200 per day.
NOTE: The expenses may slightly vary subjected to any change in the boarding & lodging costs and any change in the food & stay preferences of the volunteers.
