Ethics

The Himalayas have a very rich and ancient culture that makes these precious mountains unique in many ways. The strong bond between the communities and the nature is precisely reflected in the value systems of the culture and traditions of the Himalayan people. These communities, as they have inhabited this very pristine land for hundreds of years, are quite conservative towards their culture and ethical principles. Despite of the ongoing race of urbanization and globalization, they have well preserved their cultural and natural heritage and have strong belief in their value systems like mutual respect, self esteem, religious faith, indigenous knowledge, and moreover, love for their culture.

DOER Voluntary Services Program is actually a medium of bringing a positive change in the lives of the Himalayan communities, who are still marginalized and need additional support in their integral development in a sustainable way. Therefore, our sincere and reasonable expectations from the people interested in becoming a DOER under our Voluntary Services program are that they must-
  • Possess the spirit of "giving back" to the world
  • Be respectful towards different cultures and customs
  • Protect the nature and environment of the local area
  • Be kind and considerate towards the weaker/poor people
  • Have a positive and realistic attitude towards life
  • Be sincere and respectful towards the vision and values of PARIWARTAN
