New Moon Report | Monday 11 March 2024

Biblical Calendar Society (BCS) - New Moon Report - Monday 11 March 2024 - Thirteenth Biblical Month

➠ The new moon WAS SIGHTED in Israel on the evening of Monday 11 March 2024, by:

* Binjamin & Ariella Casey at 5:42 PM from Qatzrin, in the Golan Heights
* Leah Meiterman at 5:42 PM from Qatzrin, in the Golan Heights
* Bruce Brill at 6:35 PM from Kfar Eldad, near Takoa in the Judean Hills

➠ Thus, the Thirteenth Biblical Month begins tonight.

➠ Since no significant amounts of Aviv barley were found by our searchers anywhere in Israel as of the sighting of this new moon, the Biblical New Year will NOT begin tonight. Rather, this year will be intercalated, meaning that a leap month (this Thirteenth Month) is added to it, and the New Year will begin at the next new moon.

➠ Thus, Hag HaMazoth (“Passover”) will occur NOT occur on the 15th day of this Biblical month, but rather on the 15th day of the next Biblical month, since we can be all but assured that significant amounts of Aviv barley will be found before the next new moon.
