  • Chicago Manual of Style (CMS) citation guidelines, from OSU. In the humanities, we use the notes-bibliography style, not the author-date style.
  • Chicago style in history, from Diana Hacker's website. More specific to history than the OSU site. Don't pay attention to the formatting guidelines though -- you don't need a title page, for example. Also, she has you put a comma after the authors' names. A period is correct.
  • Adapting CMS style for internet sources. Strict CMS rules don't cover internet sources, but some of the best primary sources are on the web, so follow these guidelines and use your best judgment.
