Colonialism before the Revolutions

Upcoming Major Due Dates: DBQ due on Wednesday, December 17.

Before 8pm on Sunday: Email me a preliminary thesis. We'll workshop them on Monday.

For Tuesday, December 9 (we drop on Monday):
1. Go to the University of Houston's Digital US History textbook and read the following sections:
The Road to Revolution (article)
http://www.digitalhistory.uh.edu/database/article_display.cfm?HHID=691
The Road to Revolution (timeline)
http://www.digitalhistory.uh.edu/database/article_display.cfm?HHID=266
The Emergence of New Ideas about Personal Liberties and Constitutional Rights
http://www.digitalhistory.uh.edu/database/article_display.cfm?HHID=686

For Friday, December 5:

I will assign you either the New England colonies, the middle colonies, or the southern colonies, and you will write a 1-2 page response about why your area was distinctive. Mention both how and why it was founded and the ways in which it developed in the years leading up to and through the French & Indian War.
(Elisa, you're going to be gone; you're doing the middle colonies. Everybody else has to wait and find out on Thursday.)

For Thursday, December 4:
1. Go to the University of Houston's Digital US History textbook:
http://www.digitalhistory.uh.edu/database/subtitles.cfm?titleID=97
2. Read "Regional Differences Contrasts" through the end of the section -- the last page is called "The Southernmost Colonies" (12 pages).

For Wednesday, December 3:
Why is everything around here named Duquesne? Read this: http://www.pittsburghcitypaper.ws/gyrobase/Content?oid=oid%3A35536

For Tuesday, December 2:
Study for short quiz on the vocab below.

For Monday, December 1:
Read handout from "The Enduring Vision," about British and French competition in North America, and fill out study guide.
Edit: Whoops, I forgot to put the large yellow chart on the website. You shouldn't need it for the quiz, but it's nice to have...
