The Best Programs No Money Can Buy

Online Programs

ArtPad An online drawing tool which is simple enough to use with early elementary students.

IKnowThatPaint A wonderfully complex painting tool for younger students. Note-- you do not have to register to use it!

Brushter An "online painting machine for all ages" and a quite fun one at that!

The Impressionist Get your Monet on... allows you to experiment with impressionist painting techniques, very simple!

Online SketchPad More detailed, good for students who need more tools. (Gallery is not monitored!)

OneMotion Much more fullbodied paint and sketch program.

Picnik Edit photos online.

Photoflexer Edit photos online.

Downloads

ArtRage One of the best paint programs ever. Emulates actual paint, lets you turn photos into paintings, lets you sketch over photos. Free version is wonderful. $25 buys you the deluxe version which is worth it!

Tux Paint Like KidPix, but no cost! Earlier versions would not save images in any usable format. Newer versions are working on that.

GIMP  Like Photoshop, with the extra added benefit of being free!

Pencil Easy, fun animation tool-- much like flipbooks were back in the day.

Pivot Make stick figures move... and that is just the beginning.

Publishing Options

Animoto.com The quickest way to make a slideshow out there! Simple, fast, interesting picture gallery.

Smilebox.com  Pretty slideshows, quick, many themes: requires download of small program.

Vuvox.com  Fast media creation for use on websites, etc.
