Toastmasters Acronyms
AC (Advanced Communicator) - This is a term that refers to an Advanced Communicator Bronze or an Advanced Communicator Silver, or an Advanced Communicator Gold.
ACB (Advanced Communicator Bronze) - This is the award given to those who have achieved the Competent Communicator award and completed two Advanced Communication & Leadership Program manuals.
ACG (Advanced Communicator Gold) - This award is given to those who have achieved the new Advanced Communicator Silver award, completed two additional advanced manuals, conducted a registered Success/Leadership Program or Success/Communication Program or a registered Youth Leadership Program, and coached a new member with their first three speeches.
ACS (Advanced Communicator Silver) - This is the award given to those who have achieved the Advanced Communicator Bronze and has completed two additional advanced manuals, and conducted any two programs from the Better Speaker Series or Successful Club Series, or one from each.
AL (Advanced Leader) - This term is given to those who have achieved the Advanced Leader Bronze, or Advanced Leader Silver.
ALB (Advanced Leader Bronze) - This award is given to those who have achieved Competent Communicator award, completed the Competent Leader Manual, and has served at least six months as a Club officer, and participated in the preparation of a Club Success Plan.
ALS (Advanced Leader Silver) - This award is given to those who have achieved Advanced Leader Bronze, served as a District Officer for a full term (a full term is from at least Sept 1 to the June 30th of the following year), completed their High Performance Leadership project, served successfully as a Club Sponsor, Mentor, or Coach.
CC (Competent Communicator) - This is the award given to those who have completed all ten speeches in the Competent Communicator Manual.
CL (Compentent Leader) - This is the award given those who have completed all ten leadership projects in the Competent Leader Manual. There are 21 or 22 leadership roles in this manual, depending on how you complete project #10.
DCP (Distinguished Club Plan) - The DCP year runs July 1st to June 30th each year. To qualify, a club must finish the year with achievement of at least five of the ten Distinguished Club Plan goals. Achievement of seven of ten goals earns the club Select Distinguished status, and nine of ten goals earns the President’s Distinguished status. There are four goal areas that are addressed: C. L. A. M.--Communication, Leadership, Administration of the club, and Membership (must have a net of 5 new members if you have less than 20 members total, or have at least 20 members by June 30th).
DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster) - This award is given to those achieving the Advanced Communicator Gold award and the Advanced Leader Silver award. This is the highest recognition a member may receive.
HPL (High Performance Leadership) - features five projects offering instruction and practice in such vital leadership areas as developing a vision, goal-setting and planning, developing plans and strategies, and team-building. It also gives you feedback on your leadership skills. The program may be completed within your Toastmasters club, area or district, and even within your company or community. A requirement to achieve the ALS.
TI (Toastmasters International) - A non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership. The first Toastmasters club was established on October 22, 1924, in Santa Ana, California, by Dr. Ralph C. Smedley, who conceived and developed the idea of helping others to speak more effectively. More clubs were formed, and Toastmasters International was incorporated under California law on December 19, 1932. Toastmasters International's business and services are administered by its World Headquarters, located in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. It employs no paid promoters or instructors. It has no salaried staff except the Executive Director and World Headquarters staff, who provide services to the clubs and Districts.
