Spring 2011 Schedule of Events Saturday, February 12th: Meet at the church at 8 :30 AM to carpool down to Camp Aldersgate. Bring $10 and a permission slip! A new and improved Aldersgate Youth Rally is coming Feb. 12, 2011! Youth Group fun, fellowship and worship with other youth groups from right here in southern New England. Here's the skinny: Saturday, Feb. 12th, 10 am - 4pm. This will be a fun event focused on getting to know one-another and our place in God's world. Who can come: All youth grades 6-12 and youth leaders What to bring: $10 per person to pay for lunch and activities. Where: Camp Aldersgate Saturday March 5th: Help serve a spaghetti lunch for the brand-new FUNraiser. If you come and help you will earn money towards the cost of the Youth2011 trip!!! Be at the church at 11 AM to get the kitchen ready. TBA (April/May): Youth2011 Fundraiser: Mystery Dessert Theater. We will perform a mystery play for the audience who will be served dessert. This will serve as a fundraiser for Youth2011 - participants in the play will split the funds between them. Sunday May 15th: 26th Annual Walk for the Homeless. We will order pizza and eat at church. The walk begins at 2 pm at Elm Park. We will complete the walk and arrive back at Wesley around 4 pm. TBA: Caroling in Summer. We had such a good time Christmas Caroling that we are going to do it again ... this time in the summer! TBA (Late June): Serving Dinner at Retirement Party. Someone is retiring and we've been asked to help serve food. Anyone who participates will earn money toward the cost of their trip to Youth2011. TBA (Early July): Youth2011 Fundraiser: Car Wash. We will be washing cars to raise money for Youth2011. All who participate will split the funds between them. TBA: End of the Year Picnic! Youth2011:http://www.youth2011.org We are going to the gathering at Purdue University July 13-15. This may be the coolest thing our youth group has ever done. August 29th: Back-to-school Cookout! We will grill and play outdoor games at Pastor Shandi's. Time: 2-5 pm. Please bring a dessert to share. September 10th, 11th: Yard Sale! We need to help set up tables Friday evening, sell popcorn during the day on Saturday, and take down tables when the yard sale is over at 3 pm. See youth leaders to sign up for a time to sell popcorn and make us some money! Proceeds will go toward our mission trip in the spring. September 17th: 6:30 - 9 pm: Youth Game Night! Meet in the gym for board games and Dodgeball! Bring snacks to share. September 19th: Youth Car Wash! Help raise money for the church through a car wash. This will occur during and after church in the church parking lot. Bring buckets, sponges and old rags to help clean the cars. October 16th: Y3K Are Ye Able Mt. Wachusett Hike! Meet at the church at 11 am. Bring snacks! You will need a permission slip. October 24th: CROP walk! We'll have a pizza lunch at church, then go to Trinity Lutheran for the CROP walk. Time: 12-3:00 pm. November 7th: Harvest! We need to come up with something to auction off at Harvest from the Youth Group. Suggestions so far have been painting (as in a room in a house) and babysitting. November 12th: Lock-In! The lock-in will start at 8 pm and end the next morning at 8 am. We will have food, fun and fellowship! We are inviting area churches, so be ready to meet new people. Feel free to bring your own friends as well. We are responsible for planning the worship. You will need apermission slip! So will your friends! December 19th: Christmas Caroling for shut-ins. We'll leave at 12 and return at 2:00 pm. Please bring a permission slip. |
