I began to like woodworking since I got an old little house back in 2005. You know, at that time, the house price was at its top level. I got no money to do the update, fortunately I am a handyman, I believe I could handle most of the work if I have the tools and the materials. That's the start.

I began with making window curtain hangs, then window and door casing. When I felt confidence with my skill, I started making my first furniture: a flat-panel queen bed. After that, I built a pine bunkbed. All these practice made me feel I could handle more complicated project.

Then I decided to make my own kitchen cabinet with solid cherry. This is a big challenge to me, I did a lot of research on how to make kitchen cabinet and raised panel door, visited either lowes or homedepot for detailed view of the sample cabinet. I found a lumber yard that sells cheap cherry special of $2.40/bdf, I drove a long way there several times to get enough cherry wood, and also got some cabinet grade plywood from homedepot. The raised panel door is basically the most difficult part, I first tried to use cheap pine board to make two raised panel doors, just to practice and have some experience. It turned out perfect. I felt that I should be able to get the project done. 

It took me almost one year to finally finish the project, although most of time I was only a weekend worrior. I did meet a lot of technical problem, I upgraded several of my power tools,  and invested on several more tools. But the results turned out to be wonderful, I couldn't even believe I did it. What an experience!
