Woodpecker Industries is primarily a portable sawmill service, as well as suppliers of quality wood and wood products. We provide the tools and experience necessary to incorporate logs from your land /site clearing into the materials needed for your projects. Every year mature trees are removed from local residential land, parks, campgrounds, and recreation areas due to damage from disease or other causes. Generally, these are the areas that will have to hire a tree service to cut down and either haul the trees to a landfill, or haul and cut the trees again into firewood to be burned. Urban tree salvage provides an alternative to paying disposal costs and burning waste wood. By milling lumber from downed trees on site and using the lumber locally, this will eliminate the extra cost of purchasing lumber for building materials, fencing, boardwalks, furniture and so on.
In addition to our sawmill services, we specialize in green design and timber framing. These services combined can produce a very natural, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing home.
In our workshop, we are producing wood products using salvaged urban timber and storm damaged trees. Often, circular sawmills will not accept these logs, due to the question of metal and hardware in the wood. With our band sawmill, this is not as much of a problem. The logs being salvaged generally have no major flaws and the end products are beautiful.
