About Us

Women On Wheels® was founded in California by an avid woman motorcyclist in 1982. Its purpose was, and still is, to unite all women motorcycle enthusiasts, whether they ride their own machine, are motorcycle passengers or enthusiasts, or future motorcyclists. WOW members are located throughout the United States, Canada, and several other countries. WOW has over 3500 members and is growing strong!

In 1983, in an effort to keep in touch with members around the world, a quarterly newsletter called The Wheeler was published and distributed. Today, the WOW publication, entitled Women On Wheels®, is a bi-monthly magazine consisting of stories and articles written by the membership, as well as information about new products of interest to women riders, and happenings throughout the motorcycle industry.

Women of the Rivers was founded in the fall of 1998 so that Portland/Vancouver area women motorcycle riders could have like minded people to share adventures and the excitement of riding together.  Raising the awareness in the public and in the motorcycling industry of female motorcycle ownership and helping each other learn safe riding techniques in the process of having extreme amounts of fun have kept our chapter growing.
