WELCOME!

Welcome to the Women in Optics Webpage.  Women In Optics is a University of Arizona student club run by graduate and undergraduate students of the College of Optical Sciences (OpSci). We participate in outreach opportunities to raise awareness and teach optics to future scientists of all ages. We also serve as a forum for women in the optical sciences community to communicate and exchange ideas.

We encourage you to join us and participate in the events we are planning for this year. To do so, click on the 'Join' link at the bottom of the page. Among some of the activities we have this Fall 2011 semester:

- WIO Media Club: where we discuss issues women in science and engineering

are currently facing, we do this over lunch, and dessert provided by WIO.

We also provide the literature we will be discussing in advance. Open to everybody.

- Brown bag lunches: where we have speakers talk about their trajectories

and experiences, giving us the opportunity to interact with them over lunch and dessert provided by WIO.

- Outreach: we are currently working on getting together an optics

outreach kit for STEM girl scouts, if you would like to help us out please send us an email.

We have other exciting events coming up so keep an eye on the Bulletin and the Calendar
