Sermons for March

Mar  4 -                 WHO IS THIS MAN?

Scripture - Colossians 1:15-19

It is a question which was raised on a fishing boat during Jesus' ministry.  A terrible storm arose on the lake.  So terrible was it, even professional fishermen feared for their lives.  In desperation they turned to Jesus who calmed the storm and seas.  They had seen him allow the lame to walk and the blind to see, but this was the first time they had seen His power over nature.  It caused them to ask, "Who is this man that even the wind and waves obey Him?"  Paul would years later provide the church at Colossae a detailed answer to that question.  Join us as we consider his response and its significance for our lives.

Mar  11 -

In a little more relaxed Sunday morning atmosphere, there will be no notes to take and few visuals on the screen.  Instead, you will be asked to close your eyes and open your imaginations.  Through a simple story we hope to gain insight into the heart of God as He considered the reality of giving His own Son away on a cross.  My hope would be that the story would provide for us a striking reminder througout Lent and beyond that of the great sacrifice of God; a sacrifice for you and me.

Mar  18 -          FACING LIFE'S CROSSROADS:
                             The Crossroad of Injustice
Scripture - 1 Peter 2:19-23
Have you ever encountered injustice?  Have you ever been robbed, or lost a job of no fault of your own?  Have you ever been burned in business or broken by a relationship built upon trust?  How do you deal with it when someone puts the screws to you?  Better yet, how should you deal with it?  Probably no greater injustice was perpetrated against a person than that which was exacted from Jesus Christ.  Join us as we consider how Jesus responded ( and we might as well ) on the road to the cross.

Mar  25 -         FACING LIFE'S CROSSROADS:
                          The Crossroad of Rejection
Scripture - Isaiah 53:2-3
History is filled with storis of people who have experienced rejection.  Probably all of us have felt the sting of rejection in one or more areas of life:  From a boss, a friend, a spouse or sibling, an organization or institution.  In those cases, the question becomes, "How do we face the rejection of others without rejecting ourselves?"  Yet, again we find in the pages of scripture that probably no one was more familiar with rejection than Jesus:  during His ministry, in the garden, and on the cross.  On this Sunday morning we will explore how Jesus kept His heart in the mode of forgiveness, mercy and compassion to those who were rejecting Him.  From His example, we can learn a great deal about how to thrive in the face of rejection.
