FAQs

  • How much will it cost?
You will have to pay subs if you take part in more than 3 outings: £10 per term for Wolfson students (subsidized by college), £20 per term for everyone else. This includes all the sessions, on and off the water. Races will be a little bit extra.

  • How do I get to the boat house?
Our boats are kept in a boat house that belongs to University College. It is on the Isis (name of the Thames when it goes through Oxford).
The
best way to get to the boat house is on a bike. Go down St Aldates street, past Christ Church and all the way to Folly bridge. After the bridge, turn left on the tow-path and keep going until you get to the boat house. It is a quite modern building on the opposite side to where most colleges boat houses are.
Don't forget your bike lights when it's dark or you might get fined!

  • What should I wear to row?
You should wear something you can exercise in, but that is not too loose or it might get caught in different moving bits of the boat. It can get pretty cold on the river especially in the beginning when you won't always be rowing all eight at once, so take several layers. You can always get rid of them if you realize you are too warm. It might also rain or you might get splashed so bring a change of dry clothes for after the outing.
