Thursday, June 28, 2007Ben Browder: Air Force SG-1 NewstoryThe Air Force did a video story on their involvement with the SG-1 movie being filmed. It is posted on YouTube. Ben Browder (John Crichton) appears towards the end, and as usual, has something interesting to say. Claudia Black: Stolen Life DVD Now AvailableClaudia Black (Aeryn Sun) does the voice of one of the main characters in Stolen Life, a recently produced 3D computer animation feature film. This film was recently screened at the Sydney Film Festival. You can get your copy (NTSC only) here. Wednesday, June 27, 2007Gigi Edgely in Starter WifeThe last scheduled episode of Starter Wife is airing Thursday night, June 28th, on the USA cable channel. Gigi Edgley (Chiana) has had a small, recurring role in this mini-series. The Farscape Cognoscente has been reliably informed that should the network decide to pick up this series, Ms. Edgely can expect to continue in this role. Although it is beyond the FS Cognoscente's comprehension as to why, so far the indications are that this series has been performing satisfactorily for the network. Despite that, there's no news yet on its future. Although FS Cognoscenti finds the series dull and predictable, Ms. Edgely outshines her material, and as the Farscape Fanatic that the Cognoscenti is, this show will always find a spot on the Cognoscenti's DVR. Newslinks for Starter Wife SG-1 Finale DeliversThe FS Cognoscente has been dutifully watching Ben Browder (John Crichton) and Claudia Black (Aeryn Sun) in their roles on Stargate SG-1 on the SciFi Channel. Although both Farscape alumni have helped breathe some life into this, um...venerable series, the Cognoscente has been unable to escape noticing that the ratings have been slowly descending. Therefore it caused some small satisfaction to read the following release published on Futon Critic: America's longest running sci-fi television series ended with a bang,
delivering more viewers in key demos than even its broadcast
competition. The series finale of Stargate SG-1 (Friday, June 22, 2007
@ 8pm) delivered a 1.7 HH rating, 1.2 million P25-54s, 1.1 million
P18-49s and 2.2 million total viewers P2+.
The FS Cognoscente must also slyly point out to the reader that SciFi's ratings for their standard SciFi Friday offerings have all been sliding, and notes that the introduction of a new show, Painkiller Jane, has not been able to reverse this trend. Mr. Browder and Ms. Black have already started their next project, which is the filming of two direct-to-video SG-1 movies. They are expected to be released next year. The FS Cognoscenti does not hold out hope that these movies will be any more interesting than the series was, but will dutifully order the DVDs from Amazon just as soon as they become available. |
