We do SO many different activities. If the kids can think of it....we'll do it!
The community of Winthrop is amazing. They are super supportive and help out in a variety of ways.
The Fire Department, Police Department, and Emergency Services have all come up and done interactive demonstrations.
We've gone to Portland Seadogs Baseball games, snow tubing, bowling, and to Portland Pirates Ice Hockey games.
In house, we celebrate Halloween, Mardi Gras, Chinese New Year, and National Pirates Day with really fun activities.
We cook, we've had wood shop, arts, crafts, we've done tae bo and yoga, walking, and use the gym, chess/checkers/
cribbage, monopoly, the game of life, and sequence.
We're looking forward to having special guests come in to visit in the very near future.
Kru. Mon, was our exchange teacher from Thailand a few years ago. We sent her greetings for Songkron which is the Thai New Year.
Truly FUN after school!!!!
We have had the Winthrop Fire department visit us on several occasions. The Team Members had the opportunity to try equipment and experience what a fire fighter has to wear during a fire.
One of our favorite activities has to be bobbing for apples!!!! It's not only a Halloween tradition at FAS but highly requested at the end of the year celebration.
This year, the WMS chorus has been invited to sing the National Anthem at a Portland Pirates Ice Hockey game. A majority of the chorus belong to FAS therefore, we sponsored the trip as one of our field trips.
To celebrate Chinese New Year, we had home made chinese food
and tried chopstix.
Our movie marathon/sleepover was a huge success. 14 of us watched all the Star Wars movies, ate pizza at midnight, and played man hunt at 2am!!! Some of us found a little time to sleep.
We had a visit from the NERDS who came in with their reptiles.
This is definately the craziest month of the year!
Check it out!
We're looking forward to a great end of the year spaghetti supper for our families!!!!
