Weekly happenings for the Butler and Watkins families
WildBlue Training
Colorado has been the theme over the past month. During the third week of February, I travelled to Denver to get trained for the Wildblue Satellite VAR program. While I learned quite a bit, theree was no skiing during this trip. Karen held down the family and business during my absence. She's getting so good at this, I may take more trips in the future.
Telluride Trip
The guys headed to Colorado. We stayed at Scott's house for 6 days. It's just outside the very cool little town of Ouray in a box canyon. It was very impressive town and the skiiing in Telluride was great. It did not snow while we were there, but a snowfall hit just before we arrived. Almost every day was picturesque and sunny. It was a fun group. I also managed to install a satellite dish on the side of the house. It's pretty cool having high speed access in the middle of nowhere.
Vegas Baby!
Karen and I headed to Vegas for a few days immediately after my Colorado trip. We stayed at the Bellagio on the discount nights. We played Blackjack and Craps and were doing pretty well after the first day. We ended up losing about 70% of our funny money so we call it a success. Didn't see any shows but stayed relaxed and even worked out at the Bellagio. That had to be the most beautiful Gym I've ever seen. We stayed at The Hotel at Mandalay Bay on Friday night. Very chic. The elevator area was like a massive wind tunnel though. Some re-engineering of HVAC is in order. Also the hot/cold water situation was very bad at The Hotel.
We played the ponies the next morning and I played Roulette forever. It was a good time. Played some No Pass line Craps at the very end and did great. I need to do that a bit more in the future.
My parents are heading to Vegas in June. We gave them a $25 chip from the Luxor that ended up in the bottom of Karen's purse. I told Barry to play 3 hands of BlackJack and let it ride each time. So with any luck, I'll end up with $200.
