Hi! My name is Renee Haskins, and I am the Walter J. Mitchell Elementary School Counselor.  I earned a B.A. in Communications and Music Studies in 2004 from the University of Maryland College Park (Go Terps!). I later earned a Master of Education in School Counseling from Bowie State University in December of 2007.

I originally began my counseling career working as a Rehabilitation Counselor with a mental health agency serving Prince George's, Anne Arundel, and Montgomery county; assisting students and families in their pursuit of academic, social, and vocational wellness. I also did freelance work, working with several counseling and mentoring community agencies within the DC Metro Area.  However, my greatest dream was to work within the school system as a school counselor. 

I was overjoyed to be hired by the Charles County Public School System and receive a position as a full-time counselor at Walter J. Mitchell Elementary School!

On any given day you are likely to see me walking swiftly through the halls (no running allowed) to a classroom guidance lesson, greeting the students into our school lobby, giving a pep talk to a student whose had a rough day, or speaking before a group of students about character and responsibility. 

Your child’s emotional, social, and educational well-being mean a great deal to me.  It is my hope that together we can make their elementary years memorable and their experience at Mitchell Elementary a great one!  Here’s to a great year for your child!
