Update of the Illinois 60 Summits:

Ed Bieliewski shared information regarding the planned summit for Illinois.  It is anticipated this will be held in September of 2011.  The chair of the Illinois group is Elizabeth Kerr, who is with HSN.  Many health care organizations have agreed to participate.  Representation from other employers is currently being explored.  Our Wisconsin group can serve as a resource for ideas and exchange of information with the group starting up in Illinois.

Upcoming Webinar on Disability Management:

Scott shared an enhanced invitation for the upcoming webinar on disability management, to be held on Wednesday May 4, 2011 at 11:00am.  Speakers include Dr. John Lui, Professor, UW-Stout, and Dr. David Rosenthal, Professor, UW-Madison.  The timetable was reviewed with initial email invitation to be distributed on April 11, 2011; a second round with a broader scope including the 60 Summits Central Organization assuming spots remain available will be sent on April 18, 2011.  Reminders will be sent to registered participants on April 20, 2011 and also the morning of the webinar on May 4, 2011.

A title to entice interest was suggested as “What Employers Need to Know about Disability Management”.  The group suggested that anecdotes and stories be incorporated with the research findings be shared in the presentation to help ensure an increased audience interest and engagement.  Scott also volunteered to talk with Randy Adam about the initial conversation Randy had with Dr. Lui about key areas to be addressed in this webinar.

The reach of our webinar was also addressed on our conference call; congratulations to Dr. Weaver who may be chosen as the keynote speaker for the fifth National Injury Conference; Roadmap to Resilience in Changing the World of Work, to be held in Melbourne, Australia in May of 2012.

An update of the 60 Summits Central Organization activities was shared, strategies include gathering of interest stories to help promote the mission of the 60 Summits, as well as be used for training materials and presentation points.  In addition, Jennifer wishes to promote training for physicians in disability prevention, and the role of physicians in the stay at work – return to work process.  Maja Jurisic has developed a training module already in use in Wisconsin; physicians at Concentra have received this training, and this training is being utilized at Marshfield Clinic.  Discussion was held surrounding how to get this important information out to other providers in Wisconsin, especially as the module for use in Wisconsin training is available online.  Jennifer Wolf agreed to contact Dr. James Leonard to see if this important training could be incorporated in curriculum at the UW Medical College.  The group concurred that using the training already prepared for Wisconsin would be preferable to that of the larger organization because our training is available at no cost.

Another initiative of the 60 Summits Central Organization includes development of webinars produced by 60 Summits Central.  These would address the ACOEM recommendations.  Jennifer Christian has proposed a revenue sharing for tuition fees between local summits and the 60 Summit Central.  However, in discussion it was identified that our group’s goal has been on education and promoting awareness and change, versus raising revenue.   Our interest would be largely with using this training to promote a wider dissemination of the ACOEM recommendations.  Discussion was held regarding which certifications and certification maintenance would help promote this training; these certifications were mentioned: CCM, CRC, and CDMS.  In addition, it is suggested that Jennifer may wish to explore SHRM certification.

Another update shared from 60 Summits Central included Jennifer Christian’s upcoming visit with Dame Carol Black, the National Director for Health and Work in the United Kingdom.  Dame Black recently presented to the European Productivity Forum and the link to this information is provided below:
