| If you're looking for the lovely city by the banks of the "Onion River", please see the Winooski, Vermont, official site. If you're looking for the search engine marketer from Burlington, Vermont, USA...that's me. I have accounts at the following SEM resources:
So who is Winooski? Sorry, can't tell. I try to fly under the radar as much as possible, subscribing to the tinfoil hat level of paranoia vis a vis search engines, manual review of sites, retributive penalties, etc. Or maybe that's just an excuse so I won't have to blog like most everybody. Yeah, that's probably it... But as long as you're here and reading all this (Hi Mom!), may I direct your attention to some sine qua non resources for search engine marketing? (I take "search engine marketing" or SEM to mean the whole deal, paid search plus SEO, not just paid search as some would have it. Call me old fashioned. Just don't call me.) WebmasterWorld: It was my first big messageboard after JimWorld (RIP, Jim Wilson). Time catching up on posts here is time well spent! Searchengine Land: I've been a Danny Sullivan fan (OK...groupie) since '98, back when you were in 7th grade. So BACK off. [;-)] SEOmoz: You really need to become a pro member for the tips, tools, and, uh, terribly good advice. Search Engine Roundtable: Barry Schw-- I mean, RUSTYBRICK doesn't seem to sleep. His loss is your benefit as he deftly summarizes all the posts and news you need to know. ...And, of course, there's a whole buncha other resources and blogs that I get to when I can but are amazing, each deserving Oscars for SEM: SEO by the Sea: (As opposed, I suppose, to in a dark cave, like the rest of us do it...) Bill Slawski rips into technical papers, abstruse mathematical theories, and seemingly opaque processes that will transform everything we know, if not today, then soon. Search Engine Journal: Great writing about timely and "foundational" topics alike. Sphinn it, dude! Stone Temple Marketing's "Ramblings About SEO": "Ramblings"? More like, "Dissecting with a laser". OK, so I have to watch it with the hyperbole, but pay close attention to Eric Enge. He knows the stuff you want to. SEO Book: Aaron Wall seems to subscribe to the "pay it forward" ethos, and, judging by the insane quality of his posts, the universe owes him a small island. Say, Australia. Oh God, there are so many others... For now, I'll point you toward some more "old timers" whose advice I take mega-seriously: Andy Beard Greg Boser, a/k/a WebGuerilla Todd Friesen, a/k/a Oilman Michael Gray, a/k/a Graywolf Mike Grehan Rae Hoffman, a/k/a Sugarrae Todd Malicoat, a/k/a Stuntdubl David Naylor Jeremy Schoemaker, a/k/a Shoemoney SEO Black Hat Mikkel deMib Svendsen (Wait, is Mikkel's surname "Svendsen" or "deMib Svendsen"? This is an alphabetical list, yo.) So thanks for stopping by, and...I'll see you on the 'boards or on a blog. Your blog, not mine, 'K? ...Wait, should I have used my real email address to set up this account? D'oh! JK. (Last update: 2008-05-23) |
