The Windsor Area Garden Club started out as the Bull Run Garden Club in 2003, organized by a small group of women who came together because of our love of gardening. One of our founding members was diagnosed with cancer in 2005 and thus became our inspiration to do something to help those affected by this terrible disease. It soon became apparent that all of our members knew someone whose life had been touched by cancer. Our first Garden Walk in 2005 featured seven gardens in both Windsor and DeForest. The Club voted to have all the funds raised at the 2005 Garden Walk donated to the UW Comprehensive Cancer. All told between ticket sales, raffles and donations throughtout the years, we have been able to contribute thousands of dollars to both the Paul C. Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center and Gilda's Club of Madison. We are the only local Garden Club we are aware of that donates all proceeds to a charitable cause.
