Funding

 Tree Council Fruit Tree Grants

Grants of between £100 and £700 are available to community groups to buy heritage variety apple and fruit trees for planting during National Tree Week (in November).  Applications need to be in by 31st March 2011.

Grant Eligibility Criteria
  • Applications must be on behalf of a Community Group which must be a charity / not for profit organisation 
  • Children under the age of 16 must be ACTIVELY involved in the planting process 
  • Planting must take place on publicly accessible land, usually in public or charity ownership 
  • The Community group must be able to raise 25% of planting costs 
  • Hedge plants and willow are not eligible for funding 
  • Apple and pear trees on selected root stocks are the only fruit trees eligible for funding 
  • Planting must take place during National Tree Week 
  • Applications in respect of work already carried out are ineligible

Community First

Community First manages a number of community project grant schemes aimed at providing funding support for new project pump priming or for existing project development.
 
Solve - The Community Fund
This is a wide ranging community projects support fund. Grants, for no more than £500 are available for projects in Wiltshire.
 
Landfill Communities Fund
This is a grant giving scheme for local community groups, Parish and Town Councils operated mainly in Wiltshire and Swindon. Grants available from £5,000 to £50,000.
Business Grants and Loans Fund
This is a new fund for businesses that are independently owned and operated or are enterprises for the benefit of the community.
Community Transport Small Grants Fund
The Community Transport Small Grants Fund is for new or improved community transport initiatives and other measures which improve access to services and facilities in Wiltshire and Swindon. Grants are available up to £1000.

Funding: Community Wildlife Fund

The Big Lottery Fund has launched the Community Wildlife funding programme. It will offer grants of between £300 and £10,000 to projects that bring communities together to improve or protect the natural environment by raising awareness of threatened wildlife or places.
