Teaching

In spring 2012 I am teaching two sections of ECO209 (intermediate macroeconomics). A syllabus for ECO209 for spring 2012 is available here. We are using Charles Jones, Macroeconomics, second edition, as the textbook. Enrolled students will find course information at http://my.rochester.edu.

In fall 2011 I taught the second half of ECO475 (first year Ph.D. core macroeconomics) and the second half of ECO535 (second year Ph.D. macro). Both were jointly taught with Jay Hong.
  • In ECO475, my part of the course included lectures on consumption; I also covered some growth theory.
  • In ECO535, my part of the course included lectures on
    • non-equilibrium search models
    • random search (the Diamond - Mortensen - Pissarides tradition)
    • directed search
    • the matching function
    • cyclical fluctuations
    • labor market frictions across countries and in the long run
    • on-the-job search
