Wicker furniture is easy to clean and will help it look great year after year. Outdoor furniture may be handy throughout almost all areas of the world. Overly low humidity will cause your wicker furniture to become brittle and fragile. You can occasionally wipe it down with a damp sponge and this will help restore moisture.

One most effective way in protecting your furniture from damage is regular dusting. To remove surface dust, regularly vacuum it using the soft bristle brush attachment. Using water and a mild detergent wash the piece and scrub it with a sponge or scrubbing brush. After that wipe off with a soft damp cloth.

Once a year you should wash with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Use a quick splash of water to rinse the piece.

To clean mildew stains, use a mild solution of one-cup bleach plus two capfuls of dish detergent per gallon of water. After drying you should not use your furniture for a day or two because when the wicker is wet it could dry in the wrong position if sat on. To protect your furniture, you can apply a new coat of varnish to it every few years, or when you can see excessive cracking in the coating.

If the finish on your wicker furniture needs refreshing, it is a good idea to paint it. If the piece was painted you will most likely want to strip it.  Apply a liquid paint stripper to the piece of wicker furniture. A spray-on stripper may be the easiest method to use. Be sure to scrub off all traces of the stripper using a stiff-bristle brush dipped into detergent and water.
