Q: How is Mothers & More Different from other Moms' Groups? A: We focus on Mom as a whole person, whether you're juggling the demands of paid work and family care, being a full-time caregiver at home, or making a transition between the two. We recognize that Mothers need lasting, meaningful connections with each other that will last beyond infancy and the toddler years. We provide an extended community of women who are talking about and supporting each other through the changes and challenges that affect mothers' lives. We know that our decisions as Mothers are more involved than deciding to "stay at home" or "return to work." The work we do now and our roles as caregivers can change at the drop of a hat as our families change -- it's called sequencing. Q: Is Mothers & More for At-Home Moms or Working Moms? A: All of the above! Mothers & More champions the value and necessity of all mothers' work to society -- paid and unpaid, within and outside of the home. By uniting mothers to act on their own behalf, we seek to influence policies, practices, and attitudes that unfairly impact mothers as caregivers. We realize that your current situation isn't where you've always been and likely will keep evolving as your kids grow. Read more... Q: Are chapter meetings your only events each month? A: Please check out our online events calendar.
You'll see that Wichita Mothers & More offers a wide range of events for Moms to gather
with their kids, as well as others that are reserved for Moms Only.
Newcomers can preview up to two (2) Mom Only events before deciding
whether to become a WMM member. Mom & Kid events are kept for
members in the interest of creating a kid-safe atmosphere. Q: Can I Join If...? A: We
sometimes receive questions from mothers who want to know if they can
be members given their unique situation. For example, are you: * Expecting? * A mother of multiples? * Working outside the home? * A SAHM? * A WAHM? * A Grandmother? * Separated or Divorced? * An adoptive parent? * A mother of preschoolers... middle schoolers... teenagers?
Q: Should I Join Nationally or Locally? A: When you join Mothers & More, your annual membership dues include access to both national and local chapter benefits. Q: I'd love to become a member, but I'm facing a tight family budget. What can I do? A:Mothers & More knows that families face tough money choices, making even a few dollars per month a stretch. During these times, Mom especially can use supportive connections. Please contact our Member Coordinator for information about the scholarship option -- your request will be handled with respect for your personal privacy. Q: Is it True that Mothers & More is a Volunteer-Run Organization?A: That's true at both the chapter and national levels. One of the most rewarding things about being a member is the opportunity to shape and contribute to where this organization and the Wichita Chapter go next. Chapter committees mean Wichita benefits from the many ideas and talents our members have, plus it's a fantastic way to get to know everyone. It also means you can get involved at your own pace without someone saying, "Now that you're here, do you want to be in charge?" |
