6 steps to running your online business!
Indeed, one of the biggest challenges home-based entrepreneurs encounter is to not get distracted and to stay on track of their goals. This is true for anyone who works at home, setting their own schedules, managing their own time, and all in the midst of an environment that is a both personal and a family domain. There is simply no argument about it. We need to get focused and to stay focused.
Great! So just how do we do that? What can be done to get and stay focused so that we can get closer to our goals?
Paint a visual picture of your future! I call it a Vision. Visualize that point when you have already attained your goals and be as detailed as you can with regard to everything that comes to mind at that point - family, home, income, social, spiritual, things you dream of having and doing. Write these down in a journal. write them as if they have already come about and keep the focus positive. Spend some time everyday working with this list, Some write and even speak affirmations. Do what works best for you to fire up the feeling you will have when these things actually happen for you. Set Your Goals and Write them Down! Jot it down. If it never gets written down, it remains just a wish. Turn your dreams into attainable realities by mapping out steps to achieve your objectives. Like, "what things can I do consistently to actually make extra money at home?" Make set goals from there. Then zoom in one of your shorter term goals, and break them down into doable steps. Once you have accomplished a few of these, you will feel more confident and better able to focus on your longer-term goals. So now, do you somehow feel that your goals are too lofty? Try the "eating the elephant" approach. It is taking a gigantic goal and breaking them down into more specific goals that can be achieved. Create a Specific Plan of Action and actually tackle them! Of the things needed to achieve these goals, what things can you begin this week? Write them down. If your prefer checklists, put a box beside the items in your list and cross them out as you finish them. Is it to network? Is it to begin building up your in opt-in lists? Is it to sign up and surf traffic exchanges? The more specific you become, the more likely you are to undertake them. Set Dates for Completion and celebrate milestones! We do not have all the time in the world. We have to set deadlines and do our best to meet them. Just in case, we are unable to, we realistically pick up the pieces, embark again and endeavor to meet the new deadline. If you succeed in your initial steps, do celebrate and affirm yourself for positive, progressive steps you have already taken and accomplished so far. Schedule Work Time and Deliver your commitments! Some people deliver their best work outputs in long blocks of time while others prefer short but more frequent work periods. Keep in mind your most productive method and your other commitments, block out your committed work time on a calendar that you see regularly. Stay Focused within Reason. Remove distractions that can be ignored. Distinguish the "important" from the "urgent". Maybe this means ignoring your incoming email for a while or keeping your cellphone on silent mode. Buffer yourself from whatever distracts you that does not need immediate attention. Figure out a way to let family members know that you are working. You can be creative and get their cooperation like closing the home office door. When your working and get stuck on something, take a short walk outside, do some deep breathing and some stretches.
