Welcome to Oliver and Harry, who joined us this evening. Also, just a brief reminder that there is no cubs next week for half term, we will be back on the 28th. In the meantime, I've posted some photos of our African beach scene models on the photos page - all the cubs worked really hard, and there were some great designs. |

We would also like to welcome Chris, who joined us last week. |

Hello everyone, and welcome back to cubs. A special welcome to William S and Amy, who have just joined us.
At this time we should also say goodbye and good luck to John, Ethan C, Alex, Ethan W and Deagan, who are moving up to scouts.
Congratulations to William G, who has been promoted to seconder.
This term we will be working on the Creative Challenge badge, with an African theme. The cubs have been asked to find out about a particular African animal, and over the next few weeks they will be telling the pack about their animal. Any help you can give them would be great (but don't do it for them!). Could you also send in a cereal box for next week for our African diorama.
Thanks! |

Next Sunday (8th) is Remembrance Sunday, and as in previous years, we have been invited to take part in the Whittle-le-Woods Remembrance Service. Cubs are requested to attend in uniform, with smart trousers and shoes (please, no jeans or trainers, thanks!)
We will meet at 2.20pm in the playground of Whittle-le-Woods school. The parade will move up Preston Road (under police supervision) to the war memorial for a short service, and then return to the school.
We do understand that children may have other commitments on a Sunday, however part of the cub promise is to “think of other people before themselves”, and this is a good way to show that. Please give this important event your support.
Also, just to confirm that tomorrow nights pack meeting is ON. |

Please save the date!
On October 9th we will be holding a fund-raising event at Cheeky Monkeys Chorley (Factory Lane, behind Whittle-le-Woods school). We have exclusive use of the venue for the evening, with all proceeds going towards a new kitchen and new toilets for the scout hut. Brothers and sisters, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins are all welcome (but we would ask that children who are not cubs/beavers are supervised). Please note there is a maximum age limit of 12.
The fun will start at 6pm, and finish at 7.30pm. There will be a tombola and treasure hunt, and refreshments will be available.
Tickets are £7 including food, or £3 without. Entry for adults is free.
Hope to see you there!

On October 5th we will be visiting the Mayor of Chorley, as part of our work towards the Community badge. We will be meeting at the side entrance to the Town Hall (on St Thomas' Road) at 6.50pm. Please collect from the same place, at 8.30pm.
Can we please ask that the cubs are smartly turned out - blue cub activity pants and school shoes would be ideal. Please, no jeans, tracksuit pants or trainers.

Now that we have some decent weather, the last few meetings of the school year will be outdoors, as follows:
Monday 22nd June - Canal Walk Our famous walk along the old Lancaster Canal, where the cubs can see a bit of the area's history, and run screaming through a dark tunnel. Please bring torches! We will meet at 7.15pm at the cub hut, but pick up from the Top Lock at 8.45pm
(If you're not sure where the Top Lock is, click here, or use postcode PR6 8LT if you have a Satnav)
Monday 29th June - Yarrow Valley We will be visiting Yarrow Valley country park, which used to be a colliery and bleachworks, but is now a nature reserve. Please meet at the visitor centre at 7.15pm (it's a 15-20 minute drive from Whittle) and collect at 8.45pm from the same place.
The visitor centre is near to Birkacre garden centre, on the road to Coppull. Directions here, map here, or postcode PR7 3QL.
Monday 6th July Bowley camp is on July 3rd to 5th, so there will be no cub meeting this week.
Monday 13th July - Kem Mill Field We will be having our annual 'end of year' rounders match at Kem Mill Field - parents welcome !
