Committee Members

Chairman: David Morgan

David is a long-standing member of the Cricket Club where he serves on it's committee as Fixtures Secretary. As such he was ideally placed to be a founding member of the Croquet Club where he agreed to take on the role of Committee Chairman.

Secretary: Jennifer Carter

Jennifer has been playing croquet since joining White Horse Croquet Club in June 2009, having not played any sport for many years. She moved to Wantage from Zimbabwe in February 2009 and found the friendly atmosphere at the club helped her settle in an area where she knew no-one. Jennifer tries to play as often as possible and, as a birder and nature-lover, enjoys the attractive setting of the club but wishes her croquet could be as consistent as her attendance!

Treasurer: Ian Knights

Ian is a retired Chemical Engineer who spent most of working life in the international Oil and Gas Industries. He moved from Suffolk to Wantage 6 years ago. His hobbies include
croquet, golf and walking on the Ridgeway. He is looking forward to lowering both croquet and golf handicaps this year.

Captain: Ian Burn

Retired surgeon Ian has had the pleasure of playing croquet for the past decade. Moving to the area in December 2008, he was fortunate to be able to continue playing at Wantage. The club clearly is destined to thrive with it's enthusiastic membership.

Member: Roger Green

Roger joined the club and started to play croquet in the latter half of 2008. He has retired from work and is able to play on most club days. Although nowhere near as experienced as some other members he has a degree of cunning which he uses to make up for this. His other interests away from croquet are his family and the Air Cadet Organisation which he has been involved with since he joined as a cadet in 1959.

Member: Alan Trinder

Retired pharmacist, formerly President and long term Secretary of the Cricket Club. Now happy with a game involving a larger ball that is usually slower moving and, certainly, a lot easier to both see and hit.

Member: David Dunevin

A
retired chemistry lecturer, retired sailor, retired clarinettist etc.  His remaining passions are for music, bowling, table tennis  and,  most recently, croquet.

Member: Lesley Wilkins

Lesley joined the Club at the very start of its existence in April 2008 and took on the role of Treasurer finally handing this over at the end of the 2011 season.  She retired in 2001 from a career in banking and was in need of a hobby that was not sedentary.  Her other hobbies are Quilting, Watercolour painting and her Georgian Dolls House.  Lesley & her partner Colin won the Club Pairs competition in the 2009 season.

Member: Pat Knight

Pat joined the White Horse Croquet Club in 2009 never having played before.  She is very enthusiastic and plays as often as she can.  Fantastic to find a new hobby after retirement!

Member: Ray May

No longer can I chase the speeding ball

Or hit the feathered shuttle in it's flight,
For croquet has me in it's thrall
Now hitting balls through hoops is my delight.
