Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM
Teacher rep attendance: Mrs. Timmons
Board attendance: Ronda, Kristina, Christine, and Betsy.
Motion made and seconded to approve minutes from last meeting.
Treasurer's Report: Balance is $1,379.25 after paying the PE teacher. Upcoming fundraiser will help cover the cost for her salary for next semester.
OLD BUSINESS:
A. Red Apple Fundraiser to be delivered in November.
B. Yard sale was good and we plan to do it again next year.
C. Soccer goals.. .no word on them yet from Alyson but yes we can get them.
D. Study Island is up and running. Patty has the the kids in and they will be able to log in from home soon.
NEW BUSINESS:
A. Back to school BBQ
Will be on Tuesday September 14th from 5:30 to 7;30PM. We will serve Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Drinks,
Chips $5 gets families in and pays for the PFA membership for the school year. Committees will have tables
set up for parents to sign up to volunteer for different activities during the year. Sno-cones and bounce house.
Book Fair will be open that night. We need people to help serve and to help cook. The Entertainment Books
will be for sale that night to help raise money for new pencil sharpeners for the teachers.
B. Fundraising
We need to make sure we don't conflict with other fundraisers throughout the school. Mrs. Delaney had
to change the book fair because of a conflict with the Entertainment Books being sold by the PFA
C Parents teaching Parents
Holly Young will help parents the second Tuesday of the month from six to seven starting in October to help
the math program for their children. She will have the leadership students from Reed High School to help
watch the children while their parents are in the meeting. She can help with any topic. Alyson suggested she
starts with Every Day Math in October and an overview of the math program. Alyson will use Connect Ed
to inform parents of these meetings.
D Smart Boards
They will go into one first grade class and one fourth grade class. The work order is in for the end of
September or first of October to have them installed. Teachers will be trained to use them. May come with
a lap top. $7000 for installation for them. We could use more technology for the teachers to use.
E Run for Education
Mrs. King will be in charge. We need t- shirts. Children's Ink is a non-profit group run through the Children's
Cabinet that can do silk screening. We need to check prices. Will need the shirts the Friday before.
F. School shirts
Think about doing school shirts again. The art department at Reed High School could design them. Have
different color choices for the students?
G. Carnival
Candy Trissell will be in charge of it. Will be on Tuesday October 26th from 5 to 7. 15 games. Dinner will
be either Panda Express or Costco Pizza. She will have a table set up at the BBQ to get sign up for
volunteers. There will be a canned food donation to benefit Evelyn Mount. A flyer will go home for
donations for candy to be handed out at the games. Cake walk maybe Mr. Souza will come back and do it,
Alyson will call him.
H. PFA Rep
It was suggested to have a PFA rep in each classroom.
I. Reading Week
Mrs. Delaney would like money for reading week books for student prizes which will be in March. Alyson
will donate $200 that was given to the school for increased test scores. PFA will cover the remainder. Mrs.
Delaney said the most she would need would be $330 and will give a price after September 17th.
J. Principles Report
Patty Aragona will do a training of the new Infinite Campus at the end of October or beginning of November
Parents can come in to get help navigating the parent portal. Need trainers to help Patty. Kristina Johnson
will be able to help her. Kiosk will be set up the the work room.
