Where We Stayed
The Hotel Pattee is located in Perry, Iowa, one hour NW the Des Moines Airport. Perry, Iowa is a rural community with over half the community school enrollment made up of recent immigrants. It is a reminder of the millions of people who came from all over the world to build the community, the state of Iowa and the United States. Every
room in the hotel is individually decorated. The themes preserve the
history, ethnicities, and craftsmanship of Iowa and the Midwest. The
Hotel Pattee is one of the finest boutique hotels in the

Laurila, CIR of Women Graduates-USA was the interior
designer and arts coordinator for the Hotel under previous ownership.
She delighted us all with a guided tour of the hotel explaining the art
and the construction. A most delightful room tour of our individual
guest rooms followed dinner on Friday night. The Africa Room, The
Mexican Room, the Alley Oop room, The Quilt Room, The William Morris
Room, The Marching Band Room were some of the theme examples of the
