Although not noted below, it is highly recommended that students observe dentists and dental specialists throughout their undergraduate education. Please be aware that individual dental schools may have unique course requirements for application. Please be sure to investigate each school individually before making course selections. Junior Year
- Tour dental schools sometime before the following summer
- Register for and take the DAT. Registration forms must be filled out in advance and are available from Dr. Lane. A Kaplan prep course is offered starting around the beginning of the semester.
- Apply to the Health Professions Committee (HPC). See the WFU health website for details
Senior Year
Summer
- Submit completed application to schools through AADSAS (American Association of Dental Schools Application Service)
Fall Semester
- Interview at schools
Note: December 1st is the American Association of Dental Schools national notification date
Spring Semester
- Fill out necessary paperwork for dental schools
ECU SoDM requires two college level math courses (i.e. Calculus 1 and either Calculus 2 or Statistics) UNC at Chapel Hill requires either Zoology or Gross Anatomy (HES or BIO departments)
