Whole Faculty Study Groups
A Journey of Professional Development
|
Whole Faculty Study Groups (WFSG) is a research-based strategy that guides teachers through examining data to increase student achievement. Teachers are provided extra time to collaborate in order to improve their instruction and provide new opportunities for students to learn in a challenging environment. They focus on student needs and what they do is driven by the WFSG guiding question. During WFSG teachers participate in job-embedded professional development, where they share lessons/strategies with teachers that are successful and work to improve their teaching to benefit student learning. They follow the guiding principles that set expectations for the group. WFSG guide teachers through a data-driven decision making cycle. Teachers analyze student data, monitor student progress by analyzing student work and adjust their instructional practices to meet all students' needs. Teachers look at a variety of student data including DIBELS scores, iLEAP and LEAP scores, performance assessments, writing samples and grade level checklists.
