I take this opportunity to introduce the WETECOL, a wetland research group based at the School of Biological sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. The group comprises all scientists study, doing research or activities involving various aspects of wetland. A bulletin covering wetland issues will be published accordingly. All articles from researchers and general public are welcome. I addition to this , more news are expected from wetland organization such as the RAMSAR and also the NGOs. Obviously, articles from the universities are sort after.

Perhaps with the creation of WETECOL, it provides avenues for changing of wetland information and ideas amongst the wetland enthusiasts. Subject matters can range from migratory birds, rice paddies agro systems to zooplankton and phytoplankton. Perhaps, pressing environmental issues such as global warming and eroding of biodiversity will be discussed.

Finally, I wish wetland issues will be frequently highlighted and with the establishment of this website, at least some of the gaps can be narrowed. It can be part of the reference center for wetland activities especially in this part of the world.
