JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

Once again Westview is participating in the American Heart Association's Jump Rope for Heart. Your child will learn about how to take care of their heart through physical activity and will also be raising money to help others with cardiovascular disease. To learn more, visit www.americanheart.org/jump. Collection envelopes must be received by Tuesday, February 14th.
Last year we raised the most money out of any school in Tennessee! Our goal this year is $15,000!

Westview Elementary is excited to work with Usborne Books & More to introduce a new program to our school. Reach for the Stars is a program that REWARDS your children for reading by giving them FREE BOOKS as well as new books to our school. It is a pledge-based reading incentive program that returns every cent pledged back to the school and the participating students. This is a 100% return program!
SCIENCE FAIR All students in grades 3-5 are required to complete a Science Fair Project. K-2 are encouraged to participate, but not required. The science boards can be purchased from the office for $2.25.

Giants Win!!! With a score of 10,189 to 3,730, the Giants crushed the Patriots in the Westview Trash to Treasure Super Bowl! Thanks to everyone who participated and helped us collect almost 14,000 Trash to Treasure items! Keep saving your Tyson labels, Campbell's UPC codes, Coke rewards codes, General Mills box tops, and empty ink cartridges. Our next contest will be in March. WESTVIEW'S GOT TALENT! Are you ready? It's almost here! The 3rd annual Westview's Got Talent! show is just around the corner on March 10th at East Hamilton School. Lots of information will be coming your way over the next few weeks, so be sure to keep an eye on the website for the latest news. Here are a few things that are already in the works.
Talent Show Auditions: February 27th & 28th Permission forms will be sent home soon. Parent/Child Volunteer Teams Just like last year, we are looking for parent/child teams to assist with Westview's Got Talent! Spend some time with your child and show how important participation is! An online volunteer form will be available soon. Silent Auction: Online March 5th-9th and at the show March 10th Every homeroom will provide an auction item, so check with your homeroom mom. If you have a business that can provide an auction item, please contact Holley Blalock.
New This Year: Grade Level Performances Every grade will participate in the show. Be watching the website for information on what to wear and a link to songs for practicing at home. We need large plastic coffee containers for one of the songs. If you have these, please send them to Mrs. Akins. |

Thanks to Bursting Blooms
Westview Elementary would like to thank Steve and Emily Dykstra of Bursting Blooms Landscape & Design for the beautiful landscaping that was added to our school. Two areas were created, a benched seating area in the car rider line circle out front and another area in the back. Both of these were dedicated in loving memory of our former school nurse, Martha Waller, who passed away last year after a battle with cancer. Please remember her as you enjoy the beauty of our new landscape.
