The Nordic Folkboat is a timeless classic, attractive and a pleasure to sail. Well suited to both cruising and racing which makes it a most versatile and inexpensive route to a great variety of sailing. The Nordic Folkboat appeals to a wide variety of sailors.  It is an ideal boat for a family to race also providing good one design racing to satisfy the keen racers.

The Western Solent hosts one of the most active fleets in Europe, largely based around the Royal Lymington Yacht Club and the Royal Solent Yacht Club.
