Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz held a reception honoring her 2009 Service Academy nominees from the 20th District of Florida.  The reception was held at the Pembroke Pines office located at 10100 Pines Boulevard, Pembroke Pines, Florida  33026.  The 2009 West Point nominees shown above are Lauren Stich (second on the left), Sungi Cho (far right), Daniel Dougherty (second on the right).

Army vs. University of Miami (Women's Tennis - NCAA Tournament)

The Army Women’s Tennis Team will compete against #6 University of Miami  on  Friday, May 8, 2009 at 1pm at Neil Schiff Tennis Center, University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL  in the NCAA Regionals.   The other contest that day at Coral Gables is Princeton vs FIU at 10am. Winners of Friday’s contests will compete on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 2pm for the right to move on to the Finals site (16 team bracket – 15-19 May at College Station, TX) to determine the national champion.

2009 Service Academy/ROTC Day at Opa Locka Airport

The agenda will include a prominent guest speaker, a junior officer panel discussion with Academy and ROTC graduates, and a static display of several Coast Guard aircraft. Representatives from all the service academies and ROTC programs, as well as aides from southern Florida Congressional offices, will attend to answer questions regarding the application and nomination processes.

 
 
 
Play Ball!
The West Point Cadet Color Guard presented the colors and a group of cadets displayed the American Flag, while the West Point band played the national anthem at the first-ever baseball game played at the new Yankee Stadium April 3. When the Yankees have their home opener next week, April 16, the Corps of Cadets will unfurl the ceremonial flag and the West Point band is slated to perform a 10-minute musical prelude before the game. Adkins, backed up by the Glee Club, will debut his new song, "Til the Last Shot's Fired", during the awards program on Sunday night.
