Swain County

Anna Hair, CTE Director in Swain County, was recently selected as Western Region CTE Director of the Year.  Anna shared the following quote with the interview committee:

"I believe in Career and Technical Education.  Not only have I seen the impact that it can have on students’ lives, I have experienced firsthand the positive, lifelong influence that CTE and CTE teachers can have on students.  Even before it was called CTE, I knew that I wanted to be a part of it.  As a high school student, I took many Vocational courses and was influenced by my Vocational Education teachers.  They encouraged me to join FBLA; the first time that I had traveled away from home was for an FBLA competitive event, at which I won a third place medal.  When I was granted the NC Teaching Fellow Scholarship, I knew that my dream to become a CTE teacher would become reality.  In the past 16 years, my love of CTE and passion for seeing students succeed has only grown."        Congratulations, Anna!
