Welcome to my web site focussing on the use of kettlebells and other alternative equipment as performance tools for athletic development, for body composition management or just for fun.
Kettlebells are a steel ball with a handle, ranging in weight from 4 - 64kg. You may see kettlebell sizes referred to as poods, a pood is 16.3 kgs. So a 16kg kettlebell = 1 pood, 24 kg = 1 1/2 pood and a 32 = 2 pood.
Traditionally, in Russian culture they are referred to as girya and kettlebell users as gireviks.
First reference to kettlebell dates back to the 1700s but it wasnt really until the late 90s early 00s that kettlebells were really introdcued to the western world
