32. If you want to see some AWESOME flow Jiu-jitsu then you need to check out this video of world champion Leo Viera in some friendly grappling matches in Japan - his technique is absolutely sick! So smooth, so technical, so patient.
33. Here is some sparring footage between Renzo Gracie (in shorts) and Mauricio Gomes (in gi pants) while training in Japan. Mauricio is a old-school BJJ black belt and the father of one of the greatest BJJers in modern tournaments - Roger Gracie. Watch Mauricio's basic technique, basic passes, basic holddowns, etc. HE is around 53 years old in the video! One can see where Roger Gracie gets his "old-school basics" approach to BJJ.
34. This is a video of Ari Galo doing a "no-hands" open guard drill using the shoulder-rolling drill (and similar ones) that we have been working on the past few weeks. Notice how he "rolls" with it, moves his hips, and occasionally hooks his feet to keep control and contact. He is reeeally good at it!! Note that the guard passer is not "smashing" him, but rather giving him a little space and trying to create movements to which the person on the bottom can respond. If he was being smashed then his hands would also have to be used.
35. This is a video you MUST SEE on how to train and spar to get better. Watch how these two world champions spar in a friendly training session. Are they going hard? Are they trying to kill or crush each other? Is there a lot of give and take? Are they going 100% Is each person getting to perform many, many movements, situtations, and techniques? Are they both demonstrating and practicing fluidity and refinement of movements and transitions? Does either one appear to be training with a big ego and trying to "beat" the other? Is each person going to different positions? Are they having fun? Will they be able to train tomorrow most likely without injury? This is how you should train most of the time when working on movment and technique. Now contrast this with the usual deadly, beginner fights-to-the-death you see in every beginner class where, for example, one person gets guard and does a killer death grip and the other grunts and forces his way out of the position he has been in for 5 minutes and flops on top of the bottom person, gasping for air, as the bottom person bench presses him off and collapses at the sound of the bell, in an exhausted heap. See the difference? I hope you do. Train smart.
36. Just for fun, here is a highlight video of Kron Gracie (Rickson Gracie's son) tearing up his opponents. I think he will soon be a world champion. Enjoy!
37. Here is a GREAT video of two world champions, Fabio Gurgel and Leo Viera doing some flow rolling. Note that both are allowing each other to perform moves. A great demonstration of one method how one train to get better.

TECHNIQUES IN ACTION - See of the techniques you learn in class, in real action!
1. The Leg-on-Shoulder Pass performed by the most knowledgable guy on the pass - Joe Moreira! Notice how he keeps his other arm in and it looks like it is exposed, but isn't due to good posture.
Techniques In Action for MMA/Self-defence Class!
1.Lesson: Royce vs. Kimo - Notice Royce's use of front kick to distract and then ducks under brawler's wild haymaker punch into clinch (see at 0:25 seconds). Notice how close he keeps to him as he drives Kimo the the fence.
2. Lesson: Using Distraction Kick and Fighting off Back Against Standing Attacker- Royce Gracie vs. Kazushi Sakuraba at K1 Dynamite 2007 - watch Royce use distraction kick to keep distance and distract opponent until clinch. He gets knocked down because he kept his hands down at 1:02, but recovers instantly and watch him use kicks and seated position to fight off his back trying to stand up. Notice him drop down to his elbow to avoid the Thai kicks. He uses distraction-front kick to clinch at 5:40 too.
3. Lesson: This fight between Renzo Gracie and Russian Sambo fighter Oleg Taktarov features a classic up-kick. Renzo's leg is grabbed and he falls to his back. Oleg leaves his face open and Renzo takes advantage with a well-timed up-kick!
