Newsletter 2012
Dear Members
Welcome to the Western Isles Yacht Club 2012 season, which is looking very promising indeed. There are lots of events planned, with dates for cruising, racing and social gatherings. The first social evening is at Park Lodge in Tobermory on Monday the 20th of February at 7.30pm. This will cost £6.50 per person for soup, sandwiches and tea/coffee.
We have welcomed several new members and committee members to the club who are keen to share their skills. Any news for the web site should be sent and Stevie Brown will keep it updated. Nigel Hewitt is a senior RYA instructor and will be assisting John Howard with the Cadets.
Our Club dinghies are starting to show their age in sails and hulls. Work has started on accessing funding for new dinghies with Moray Finch of MICT pointing us in the right direction. Last season our rescue boat had serious repairs costing £400. We also had trouble with its trailer which will result in more expenditure.
The Cadets will be starting up in May and in anticipation of sunshine and fair winds, let us all get out on the water and share a good sailing season.
All people with boats are most welcome to join us not only sailing boats.
Regards
Neil MacInnes
Commodore
