Basic Course - 22nd - 24th June 2012 This is the 24th Infant Hip Ultrasound Course that we have held in Dorchester and follows a similar format to courses held by Professor Graf in Austria for many years. The course is suitable for Orthopaedic Surgeons, Radiologists, Paediatricians, Sonographers and Physiotherapists. It is ideal if members of the clinical and ultrasound departments from the same hospital can attend. The aim of the course is to give the participants a thorough understanding of the role of ultrasound in the diagnosis and management of Congenital Dislocation of the hip (Developmental Dysplasia of the hip). The theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to perform and interpret infant hip ultrasound examinations will be taught. Management based on Ultrasound findings will be discussed. Questions such as the choice of equipment and how to set up an ultrasound service will be addressed. Guest Lecturer: Professor REINHARD GRAF Professor of Orthopaedics, University of Graz, AUSTRIA The venue for the course will be The Thomas Sydenham Education Centre, Dorset County Hospital, Williams Avenue, Dorchester. Course fee - £375.00 to include lunch on Friday and Saturday and the Course Social. | Update Course - 21st June 2012
For the 18th year I have been able to persuade Professor Graf to add an extra day onto his visit to West Dorset. An Update Course in Infant Hip Ultrasound will therefore be held on Thursday 21st June 2012 – immediately prior to the Basic Course from 22nd – 24th June. The Update Course will be open to those who have previously attended a West Dorset Basic Course in infant hip ultrasound. The purpose of the Update Course is: - 1. To ensure that participants are competent and confident in the technique of hip sonography. 2. To sort out any problems that participants are encountering. 3. To discuss in greater depth the clinical and ultrasonic management of children with Developmental Dislocation of the Hip, including new developments. Delegates are encouraged to bring with them a selection of their own images from both straightforward and problem cases. There is flexibility to tailor the course to the needs of the participants and it will be equally suitable for Radiologists, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Paediatricians, Physiotherapists, and Senior Sonographers. Course fee - £90.00 |
