Kenya is a country in Africa near Uganda and Tanzania. We live in the Western Province near Lake Victoria (click here and see if you can find Bungoma on the map!).
At the moment, most people grow sugar cane, which is used to make the sugar you put on your cereal. This is not good for the land, though, and WEPOGA is an organisation helping to teach farmers how to plant other things like vegetables and about not using chemicals as they harm the soil, the animals, insects and birds.

Getting involvedYou and your classmates can get involve to help the children in Shibanze. You can write them letters to find out more about how the children live and to tell them about how you live. You can send school equipment or even help to raise money! Have a look at the list below with you parent, guardian or teacher and decide a way you can get involved. Donating equipmentIf your school would like to donate exercise books, pencils, colouring books, crayons or any other equipment please click here for the address. Write a letter to one of the childrenIf you would like to learn more about one of our children and have a pen-pal in Kenya, feel free to write a letter. Just get an adult to help you with the address and posting (click here for our address).
