Dear Jazz Parents

We are very happy to announce the return of the annual Wenatchee Jazz Workshop.  Similar to past years we will be bringing six professional jazz musicians (the same guys as last year!) to Wenatchee to spend a week with our jazz students teaching, jamming, inspiring and performing.  The Workshop is scheduled for January 12 to 15, 2010 with evening performances at the Performing Arts Center of Wenatchee on the Thursday & Friday nights.

For those of you who are new to the Wenatchee jazz scene, the Wenatchee Jazz Workshop is a local organization dedicated to the teaching of jazz music to our local students by world-renowned jazz musicians in a unique format.  The six pro’s, each representing a jazz instrument (saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass & drums), work in the classroom with each of the school jazz ensembles for several days. The week culminates with Jazz Nights”: two performances at the PAC ~ one highlighting the talents of the professionals, and the second with the students playing alongside the pro’s.

It is important to know that the Jazz Workshop is funded entirely by donations, sponsorships, grants and ticket sales.  It is organized and administered entirely by volunteers.  Each year we ask participating “jazz families” to contribute $25 per student.  Of course, anything above and beyond that you can give will be greatly appreciated and will go towards meeting our financial goal.  No student, however, will be denied participation because of inability to pay.

The Woods House Conservatory serves as the Workshop’s fiscal manager.  All donations, which are tax-deductible, should be sent to directly to the Woods House (323 First Street, Wenatchee, 98801.)

The Wenatchee Jazz Workshop is a community event that takes community support to succeed.  Along with your personal contribution, we also ask for your help in outreach to local area businesses and organizations who may be willing to help with sponsorship.  Information and printed material is available to help with solicitation.

And, finally, we can always use volunteers:  fundraising, organizing, ‘leg-work’ and good ideas are all needed.  If you think you can help us out in any way please contact Gina Jans at 662-2105/home or 669-2105/cell or jansfam@charter.net.

Thank you to everyone in advance for your support.  We are looking forward to another great year!!

Sincerely,

 Jeff Sandberg Sr.
