Mrs. Vos's Learning Community

Welcome to 4th grade! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as your child’s fourth grade teacher. I am so excited about this school year!  This is my eighth year at St. Stephen’s.  Before that I taught third grade for five years at St. Bonaventure School in Columbus, Nebraska.  The year before that, I
ta
ught music fo
r one year.  Prior to my time at St. Bonaventure, I taught fifth and sixth grade in Plainview, Nebraska for four years.  I completed my student teaching experience in a third grade classroom in the Millard Public Schools.

Now, a little about myself personally. I grew up with five brothers and three other sisters on a farm near St. Helena, Nebraska
(northeast Nebraska near Hartington). I am the eighth out of nine children. (A family picture is at the bottom of this message...taken at my nephew's wedding this summer.)  My husband is a fourth grade teacher in the Gretna Public Schools. Our
two sons, ages 13 and 9, keep us on the go!  This summer we spent a few days at some water parks in Kansas City.  I also spent some of my time this summer looking for new and exciting ways to en
rich our writing curriculum. I am really looking forward to
teaching fourth grade with Mrs. Lowry and Mrs. Figura.

I strongly believe in keeping parents informed of what is going on in the classroom.  YOU, as parents,
are your child’s primary
educators, so I want you to
kno
w what we is going on
in the
classrooom so that it can be reinforced and enhanced at home.  On our
home page you will find a link titled "Weekly Tidbits".  This site w
ill be updated each Friday to let you know what to expect the next
week. This s
it
e
will also include birthdays, items neede
d in
the classroom, special
events, and a summary of what we are studying.  You will want to be sure to bookmark and check this link every weekend.  A
majority of
home/school
notes/messages will take place via email.  Please be sure to fill out the family information page (link on our home page) as soon as possible.  Most other papers, notes, and information will come home in
your child’s Friday Folder.  If there is an urgent need or if I just need to check in, I will call you.

I am very excited for the school year to begin. I have been busy planning so your child will get the best educational experience I can provide. I thank you in advance for taking the time to become involved in your child’s educational process. Through cooperation and communication, I am sure that we can offer your child a successful learning experience.

                                     Educationally
Yours,
Mrs. Vos
