Spring is almost upon us and with that, comes the threat for severe weather. The National Weather Service will be conducting a storm spotter training session in Hamilton County during the month of March. This training is free and is open to anyone who would like to attend. Fishers Public Safety and Public Works personnel play an important role in our Storm Command operations. This is especially true Monday – Friday, during normal business hours when most of our volunteer amateur radio spotters are at their day-to-day jobs. The more trained storm spotters we have out in the streets, the greater our chances of spotting something in the sky which could prompt a warning to be issued to the citizens of Hamilton County, allowing them to seek shelter in a more timely manner. This training will also teach citizens how to help their community, the National Weather Service, and Hamilton County EMA by keeping an "eye on the sky" during severe weather and knowing how to identify and report severe weather to us. Your continued support and assistance has always been, and will always continue to be, greatly appreciated! If you are unable to attend, this training is also available online at http://www.crh.noaa.gov/ind/INDSpotter/player.html. Regards, R. David Bice, PEM |
